Come as you are.
Hi, I'm Sheena! I offer adult mental health therapy in Halifax for life's changes, self-discovery, and relationships, with a special focus on ADHD, autism, and AuDHD.
My Approach to Therapy
Life changes. Relationships get complicated. And sometimes you're just trying to figure out who you are and what on earth is going on.
I work with people navigating life's ups and downs, with a special interest in ADHD, autism, and late diagnosis. I also work with partners, parents, and siblings who are trying to make sense of things from their side.
I think therapy works best when you're comfortable enough to be yourself. We'll talk things through, get curious about why certain things keep happening, and figure out what might help. Sometimes that means talking, sometimes drawing, playing with plasticine, or trying a bit of movement. I'm pretty flexible, and we always work at a pace that feels right for you.
What I'd really like is for you to walk away with a better understanding of yourself and some ideas you can actually use in everyday life.
If this sounds helpful, book a session. We can start there.
Ways We Can Work Together
-
Family life can be wonderful, but it can also be complicated! I work with adults navigating family relationships, work/everyday stress and parenting.
Whether you're trying to understand a family member's needs, work through a difficult relationship, or simply feel less overwhelmed, I'm here to help.
Areas we can explore together:
Parenting & Neurodivergence in the Family — Understanding different needs, managing parenting challenges, and finding ways to support everyone in the family, including yourself.
Family Relationships & Boundaries — Working through family or partner expectations, sibling dynamics, communication challenges, and setting boundaries that work for you.
Stress & Emotional Wellbeing — Managing anxiety, overwhelm, and life changes while finding ways to look after yourself.
-
Living with ADHD can be a mix of creativity, big ideas, and everyday frustrations. Whether you've known for years, recently received a diagnosis, or are just starting to wonder if ADHD might explain some of your experiences.
Together, we can explore how ADHD shows up in your life, what works for you, and where you might need a little extra support.
Areas we can explore together:
Identity & Self-Understanding — Making sense of a late diagnosis, recognizing your strengths, and understanding what your brain needs.
Emotions & Everyday Life — Working through overwhelm, procrastination, burnout, and the challenges of getting things done.
Relationships & Communication — Understanding how ADHD affects your relationships, navigating communication differences, and finding ways to set healthy boundaries.
-
Being autistic means experiencing the world in your own way, and that comes with both strengths and challenges. I work with autistic adults, whether you've known you're autistic for years, recently received a diagnosis, or are exploring whether autism might be part of your story.
Together, we can explore what being autistic means to you, better understand your needs, and find ways to make everyday life work better for you.
Areas we can explore together:
Identity & Self-Understanding — Making sense of a late diagnosis, exploring masking, and discovering what feels natural and comfortable for you.
Sensory & Emotional Wellbeing — Understanding your sensory preferences, recognizing emotions and body signals, and finding ways to prevent overwhelm and recover from burnout.
Relationships & Communication — Exploring your communication style, navigating differences in relationships, and setting boundaries that honour your needs.

I’m happy to offer therapy in English or fluent Cantonese.
Hi, I’m Sheena!
Neurodivergence has always been part of my life, so I know a thing or two about the wonderful (and occasionally chaotic) sides of different minds under one roof.
After years in business and consulting, I became a therapist to support neurodivergent adults, their families, and adults navigating life transitions, relationships, and changes in identity. I especially enjoy helping people connect the dots and better understand themselves.
Outside work, you'll find me drinking tea, knitting, or hanging out with my husband, two boys, and our very cuddly 15-year-old dog.
Want to say hello? Book a free consultation and let's have a chat.
Hi, I’m Katrina! Your Client Care Manager
Sheena and I started building Zestful Minds in early 2026. She had the dream and I had the organizational skills to get everything going! My family and I lived for years in Toronto, Ontario before we realized we loved the freedom of living in Dominican Republic. We’ve been in the Dominican ever since 2022 and I love working remotely. When I'm not working, you'll find me exploring the local beaches and waterfalls in Puerto Plato with my daughter and husband.
If you ever have any questions about your appointments, paperwork or insurance benefits, drop me a line at clientcare@zestulminds.com, I’ll be happy to help.
What People Are Saying
“There’s a noticeable shift after clients see Sheena—they leave looking calmer and more at ease.”
“I have had the opportunity to supervise Sheena’s clinical work for 8 months and have been consistently impressed by her attunement, clinical judgment, and ability to create a sense of safety for her clients. Sheena has a particular strength in supporting individuals—especially neurodivergent and young adult clients—in regulating their nervous system and gaining meaningful insight. I would feel confident referring clients to her care.”
“Clients frequently report feeling less all over the place, with greater ability to make sense of emotions, patterns, and focus on what truly matters.”
“Deeply validating and non‑judgmental
People describe feeling genuinely heard, emotionally held, and not judged, with a sense that their inner world is taken seriously and there is realistic hope for change.”

Common Questions
-
The clinic is located on the third floor of 1526 Dresden Row, unit 302. If you have a moment, Creamy Rainbow Cafe is on the first floor of our building and their cream puffs are amazing!
-
If you are covered by extended health benefits, many plans cover the cost of multiple sessions with a Registered Counselling Therapist-Candidate. You will need to check your coverage online through your plan or call them directly. Three questions that are helpful to ask:
Provider coverage: Does my plan cover a Registered Counselling Therapist-Candidate (RCT-C), not just psychologists or social workers?
Referral requirements: Is a doctor's note or referral needed before the first appointment?
Reimbursement limits: How much is covered per session and annually?
-
Yes! We offer direct billing to many major insurance providers, including Blue Cross, Sun Life, GreenShield, Canada Life, Manulife, Desjardins, and more.
Coverage varies by plan, so we recommend checking that your benefits include services provided by a Registered Counselling Therapist-Candidate (RCT-C).
If direct billing isn't available, or your insurance only covers part of the session fee, we'll charge the remaining balance to your credit card on file.
You'll always receive an invoice for your sessions, so you can also submit it to your insurance provider for reimbursement if needed.
-
Absolutely—all first time clients can book a one-time 20 min free consultation to assess if we are the right fit. If you feel comfortable and would like to work together, subsequent appointments are available to be booked as 60 min sessions at a cost of $160 each.
-
You don't need an official diagnosis to start therapy. We'll work with your experiences, wherever you are in the process. If you're wondering whether to pursue a diagnosis, we can talk through what it might mean for you, weigh the pros and cons, and explore a referral to a psychologist if you decide to go ahead.
-
Once you've booked your first appointment, you'll be asked to complete two short forms before we meet.
Client Information & Insurance – A few basic details about you and your insurance, if you have coverage.
Consent, Confidentiality & Practice Policies – Covers how therapy works, your privacy, and a few important things to know about the practice.
Just a little paperwork to get us started, so we can spend our first session focusing on you instead of filling out forms.

Service animals are always welcome at Zestful Minds.
While we're unable to welcome other pets into the building at this time, you may occasionally spot a small Yorkshire terrier therapy dog visiting the rooms near ours.
If you have any concerns about animals in the clinic, please let Katrina know at clientcare@zestfulminds.com so we can make arrangements to help you feel comfortable.
